Should Parents Decide?

The idea that parents should be able to control the things that their children read has come to debate. So, if anyone has been just dying to know what I have to say about the matter(I know you’re out there… please be out there!), well, here is what you have been waiting for.

I don’t believe that parents should be able to limit what their children read. In Elementary school, maybe, but in Middle school, no way. The reasons for me is that if the books are on a reading list in the first place, the teacher has a reason for it.Second, someday, you are going to have to stop protecting your child to the horrors of life, and they are going to have to learn, you can’t stop that. Plus, if you protect them their entire lives, they are going to be weak and scared of everything that comes into their life. You need some roughening up, you know? To get into life and grow up, to recognize everything that goes on and deal with it effectively. So, that’s what I say. Also, for you censor people out there trying to censor out good books and ruin the way they were meant to be read, you really make me mad.
